Sleeps…

Here are some recommendations of places to crash and a reason why you might chose them:

I will try and list them in logical timeline order, but it may take some time…

Java

Jakarta:

Bandung:

We stayed at the disappointing (LP recommended) Eidleweiss for one night before they hiked their prices by 50% for the weekend.  This is common practice and the city does not offer much value.

We preferred our 2-night stay at “By Moritz”, located in the back streets behind the train station.  A hostel-type arrangement, it is a very basic, cheap (£8 double room incl a simple brekky) with a private cold shower but with helpful staff and a half-decent common area with TV.

Yogyakarta:

Booking in advance, we spent 3 nights at the Trip advisor recommended Ruhma Mertua.  It maxed our budget and was a treat at £28pn for a sizeable boutique en suite.  Great value but a trek to the centre of town so mix it with a stop on Sostro, the main backpacker drag, where we failed to get into the LP recommended Bladok but everyone who stayed there seemed to love.

Bali

Sanur:

Flashbacks – Jalan Danau Tamblingan 110

Great small scale operation offering double rooms with shared facilities for a bargain £16.  Fab shaded pool area and large deck used by nobody else.  Justifiably bigged up by both the LP and Trip Advisor.  Defo book in advance.
